How to use face primer?

By | October 23, 2013

korres-face-primer1So I just started using bare escentuals oil free face primer. I love that it controls my oily spots all day. I’ve been seeing a derm. For my acne and she has me on a topical cream that makes my skin look like it’s peeling and I have to use a moisturizer. So I guess my question is, do I put the moisturizer or the primer on first? I hope someone could help.

There are some moisturizers that work as a primer, for example “hope in a jar” by philosophy. Great stuff, works as a moisturizer and you can use it as a primer too and its SPF 20! so you get sun protection too!

I would imagine you put the moisturizer on first, let it dry a bit and then put this on

I use my moisturizer then monostat chaffing cream as one.

I use the same primer.

I put my moisturizer on and let it completely absorb then I put the primer on

Moisturiser first, wait 1 minute let it soak, then the FP.

I use an oil free moisturizer first, then apply a thin layer of Milk of Magnesia.

I know it sounds crazy but it works great! I was hesitant until I tried it and it works better than any other primer and controls my very oil skin. And I have acne prone skin, and it never irritates or causing breakouts.

benefitWhat brand do you lot use and how do you apply it (brush, sponge or your fingers) and is this the best one you’ve used so far? Any recommendations.

I use Benefits primer. This is the first and only one I’ve ever used so far. I like it but I’m wondering if there’s anything else that is better than this brand?

I just use the cheap Hard Candy brand I got from Walmart. I typically just use my fingers to apply it and I like it.

I use Maybelline Age Rewind

I use my finger to really spread it around. It definitely makes my make up look smooth. It also helps with my dark spots as well. This is the best one I’ve used yet.

Right now I’m using liquid concealer by covergirl I think?

I think it’s the true blend one. I have used urban decay primer potion, and it works great. I think I’m going to pick up some too faced shadow insurance my next trip to sephora and try that out. Oh and I use my fingers.

I use Maybelline new york instant age rewind and I love it. Works awesome for me. I apply with my fingers. This is only the second brand I used. I bought e.l.f kind before and didn’t care for it.

For face I’ve use quite a few. I’ve tried the tinted Rimmel. I didn’t like it. I’ve tried the ELF Mineral one. And I liked it. I love the Hard Candy. But my favorite is Fyrinnae for dry skin. It’s amazing!

I’m using macs face primer and I love it.

Goes on smooth and stays on smooth.

I don’t use it every day but when I want a flawless looking face yes I use FP. I use the MakeUp ForEver HD and I use my fingers to apply it. It is my holy grail and I would highly recommend it to anyone. If you want to try it out before use you can get samples at Sephora or you could get the travel size for $15 which is what I did and its almost gone. Gotta get a new one.

smashboxI went to sephora today but there were so many that I didn’t know which one worked best. So I wanted to know which primer has worked the best for you ladies?

Smashbox is amazing

I’ve been using it for like a year now, I’ve tried the make up forever but didn’t really like it.

In my opinion Smashbox Photo Finish and Mufe Matte feel very similar on the skin. I like them both. A little goes a long ways! MAC Prep and Prime is one of my favorites.

But you are right there are so many to choose from which makes the decision SO much harder!

For the face I haven’t found one the perfect one yet, but for eyes I love urban decay primer potion and bare escentuals prime time

I love Illamasqua’s Matte

There is also one that isn’t matte, can’t remember what its called, to add some more glow, but I have super oily skin. Only some Sephora’s have Illamasqua in stores but you can purchase it online and return it to any Sephora store as if you bought it from there. I’ve also heard great things about smashbox, I just havent tried it.
